We are the two core members of the Recycling by Design Research Unit. Other specialists join us to make up the teams on particular projects. Anne Chick MA, Reader in Sustainable Design Anne is Director of the Environment & Sustainability Knowledge and Business Development Network within WestFocus (a consortium of six universities), and the Sustainable Design Research Centre and the Recycling by Design Research Unit, both at Kingston University. She is Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary, Canada, and a member of the London Remade Advisory Committee. Anne has been active in the sustainable design field through numerous initiatives (such as co-founding the Centre for Sustainable Design at Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College), researching, lecturing and publishing. Her research focuses on two main topics: (1) barriers to UK-based packaging design consultancies supporting their clients in developing environmentally-considered packaging; (2) creating markets for UK recycled materials by harnessing design and branding. Paul Micklethwaite MA, PhD, Senior Researcher in Sustainable Design Paul has an MA in Innovation Studies and a PGCert in Social Research Methods. His PhD investigated the research question 'what is design?' via a wide-ranging interview study with design stakeholders. Paul applies social research methods to the field of design, with particular interest in all aspects of sustainable design. He works in the Environment & Sustainability KBDN within WestFocus, and the Recycling by Design Research Unit at Kingston. See our individual entries in the Kingston University staff directory. |
